Boxing Day awaits: the Sydney Hobart after Comanche’s photo finish
The 80th race ended in a line-honours thriller and an overall result settled in the protest room.

The 80th Sydney to Hobart in December 2025 will be remembered for two finishes. Master Lock Comanche took line honours in a close contest down the Derwent.
The overall win, the Tattersall Cup, was first awarded to BNC. Min River protested successfully, the handicap results were overturned, and Min River was declared the overall winner. Thirty-three yachts retired from a demanding race.
The fleet returns to Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day, when the start remains one of the great spectator days of the Australian summer, best watched from the water or from the headlands at South Head.
For owners, the race is the pinnacle of Australian offshore sailing, and among the most expensive ways to spend Christmas.
