The ASX steadies near 8,730 after its worst week in six months
The index hit its lowest since June on 15 September as Brent passed US$107, then drifted flat as oil eased.

The ASX 200 lost about 3% in the week to 11 September, its worst week in six months.
On Tuesday 15 September it fell 0.9% to 8,672, the lowest close since 12 June, as Brent rose to US$107.39 after Saudi Arabia shut its East-West pipeline. Materials led the fall. US 10-year yields reached 5.02%, the highest since 2007.
By Monday 21 September the index was flat at 8,731, with Brent back to US$102.53. Ramelius and Cochlear rose; Perpetual fell 15% after rejecting EQT, and Telix fell about 12% on its German acquisition.
The next test is the Reserve Bank on 29 September.
