Friday, SCG. Fremantle trailed Sydney by 27 points at three-quarter time and kicked the last six goals to win 12.11 (83) to 10.11 (71). Andrew Brayshaw had 29 disposals, Hayden Young and Caleb Serong 28 each. Errol Gulden gathered 36 for the Swans. It sends the Dockers to their first grand final since 2013.

Saturday, MCG. In front of 97,835, Brisbane beat Hawthorn 20.11 (131) to 19.8 (122). With 36 seconds left Jarman Impey was penalised for holding the ball, Hugh McCluggage kicked the goal that put the Lions in front, and Kai Lohmann added his fifth after the siren. Nick Watson kicked six for Hawthorn and Jack Gunston five.

The decision will be argued about all summer; the ABC reported bottles thrown towards the umpires as they left the ground.

Brisbane now chase a third consecutive premiership. The grand final is on Saturday 26 September at 2.30pm at the MCG.
